CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Punjab police is going to send a team of four senior Police officers to Portugal to help extradite Bhai Paramjit Singh Pamma.
The police team to be sent to Portugal comprises DIG Balkar Singh Sidhu of Patiala, SP Ashish Kapoor of Mohali, DSP R.S Sohal of Rajpura and CIA Inspector Bikramjit Singh Brar of Patiala. The team has been constituted by the Punjab police after a thorough deliberation with the Foreign Ministry of India.
Bhai Pamma was arrested from a hotel of Portugal by Interpol on December 17. The Indian government has been demanding his extradition by accusing him of being the master mind behind several bomb blast cases, as well as the murder of RSS Chief Rulda ‘Singh’.
In the hearing held on January 5 in Portugal, the Court had granted a period of 20 days for Indian government to present evidences against him. Now, the next hearing on the case is due to be held on January 26. Interestingly, all of the others accused in the cases in which the Punjab police is attempting to charge Bhai Paramjit Singh Pamma, have been acquitted by the Court. According to legal experts, this fact should reduce the chances of the extradition of Bhai Pamma being successful.
