CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee’s inciter Sukhpal Singh Khaira has resigned from Congress and is ready to join Aam Admi Party soon.
It is notable that Sukhpal Khaira is son of veteran Congress leader Sukhjinder Singh Khaira and was an ex-MLA of Congress from the area of Bholath. The AAP leadership had been trying to encourage him to their party for more than a year. He had even sought suggestions from his supporters on Facebook about joining AAP at the start of this year.
As per news published by mainstream media outlets of India, Sukhpal Khaira had sent his resignation to state head of Congress Captain Amarinder Singh and National Vice President Rahul Gandhi. Reliable sources have informed that Captain Amarinder Singh has appealed him to reconsider his move but Sukhpal Khaira seems adamant on his decision as he was feeling side-lined by state leadership for a long while, despite firing verbal attacks on opponents.
AAP leadership has fixed Friday to formally induct Sukhpal Khaira into the AAP fold, in the presence of senior state leaders like Sanjay Singh, Sucha Singh Chhotepur, Durgesh Pathak etc. in Chandigarh.
Speculations are being made that AAP would project Sukhpal Khaira as the face for Chief Minister of Punjab.
