LUDHIANA, Punjab—Earlier today at around 3:15 am, Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa encountered breathing problems. He had earlier remained under critical condition despite being for force fed.
Doctors immediately rushed to his ward and provided him primary treatment to oust water from his lungs. After thoroughly checking Bapu Ji, they found that water had entered in his lungs due to excessive force feeding.
Bapu Ji’s son Bhai Ravinderjit Singh Gogi told Sikh24 that Bapu Ji’s physique has been extremely deteriorated and the doctors are not disclosing details of his condition. He shared that one of the doctors had asked him to arrange blood for Bapu Ji as his hemoglobin level had fallen down dramatically.
At the time of this report being written, Bapu Ji was being kept under the intensive care of DMC Hospital authorities and doctors were arranging blood for him.
Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa is on a hunger protest, and has been since January 16, 2015, to seek the release of political prisoners who have completed their sentences.
