PATHANKOT, Punjab (September 14, 2015)—The Pathankot police have taken Bhai Sukhjit Singh Khosa and 13 other Sikh youths into preventive custody alleging that “they were a threat to peace in the city”.
These youths are members of the Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Committee and had came here to visit the premises where the Gurdwara Sahib had been demolished.
Last night, special teams formed by RK Bakshi (SSP, Pathankot) carried out raids at various places in the city in order to arrest the Sikh activists.
Deputy commissioner Sukhwinder Singh said, “Outsiders entering the city are being closely watched by CID personnel who have been fanned out throughout the city in civil uniform. We are not allowing religious fanatics to enter the city. The common man is not being harassed. Our eye is on the people who are out to exploit the situation”.
Sikh leaders condemned the arrests made by the Police. They said the demolition of the Gurdwara has hurt religious sentiments of Sikhs.
