NEW DELHI (June 20, 2015)—India TV has claimed that Sikh militant Bhai Jagtar Singh Tara was planning the assassination of anti-Sikh cult chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim. The cult chief is responsible for playing with Sikh sentiments. In May 2007, he mimicked the attire of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji along with the holy “amrit sanchaar” initiation ceremony of the Sikhs. He is also responsible for multiple murders and rapes, and despite proof, he has not been convicted.
India TV alleged that its report was based on the confessions made by Bhai Tara during a police remand.
The report elaborates that several BJP leaders were on Bhai Tara’s “hit list” as well. The report alleged that Bhai Tara was planning to use the village Narowal in western Punjab of Pakistan as the venue of origination and Dera Baba Nanak in eastern Punjab of India as the destination of moving ammunition from Pakistan to India.
It is noteworthy that Bhai Jagtar Singh Tara was arrested from Thailand earlier this year in January. He was deported to India by the Thai authorities.
Bhai Jagtar Singh Tara had planned a sensational escape from Chandigarh’s Burail Jail along with Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara and Bhai Paramjit Singh Bheora. Bhai Tara is facing life imprisonment in the assassination case of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant “Singh”.
