An AI flight from Mangalore with with 194 people on board scraped the runway with its long tail portion during touchdown at the Mumbai airporton Sunday.
The AI spokesperson who confirmed the incident said the flight crew has been de-rostered and that an investigation was underway. The spokesperson also confirmed that an internal probe was being conducted, and based on findings of the DGCA, "we will take remedial measures."
According to a PTI report, the airline's on-time performance is currently the lowest among domestic carriers, with flights being delayed upto 9 hours in the last week alone. Indian cricket fans on the AI flight to Sydney missed the historic win in the India-Pak cricket match because the flight was delayed by 10 hours due to non-availability of crew.
The airline has been surviving on a Rs. 30,000-crore government bailout package.
