Two sisters gang-raped, hanged from tree in UP

BADAUN, UP: Police have arrested three people for allegedly gang-raping and hanging two teenage sisters from a tree in a village in northern India.
Superintendent Atul Saxena said Thursday that two of the suspects are police officers.
Villagers found the girls' bodies hanging from the mango tree Wednesday morning, hours after they disappeared from fields near their home in Katra village in Uttar Pradesh state.
Autopsies showed they had been raped and strangled before being hung from the tree.
The two girls, who were cousins aged 14 and 15, went missing from their house on Tuesday night.
Their bodies were found hanging from a tree in Katra village in Ushait area on Wednesday morning.
Condemning the incident, National Commission of Women member Nirmala Samant, said: "Its a horrific crime, we will be sending a team there to investigate matter."
"Government has promised that they will provide women safety. But it has not fulfilled yet. Till the government doesn't give the example of protection for girls from rape, molestation. Such kind of incident will go on," she added.
