Youth drowns in bid to rescue IAF crash victims:
A villager from Madhya Pradesh's Sheopur district drowned in Chambal River today in a bid to rescue the Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot and crew from the burning US-made C-130J Hercules aircraft that crashed in MP's Neemach village.
The deceased was identified as Kallah Siyaram, a resident of Piprani village in state's Sheiopur district. His body was recovered by villagers after 30 minutes of search, said sources.
"Kallah was among several local villagers who braved the torrent of Chambal River to rescue the IAF officials. It was a daring attempt made by the youth," said DC Sagar, IG Chambal range.
His body was handed over to his family members after the postmortem.
As soon as the transport aircraft crashed in a desolate area on the other side of the Chambal river, several villagers from MP swam across to rescue people aboard.
"It was a distance of 1km from their Piprani and Raghunatpur village. Some of them managed to reach the spot only to find charred bodies," said a constable at the Raghunathpur police station.
