CBI Ordered to Re-Open 1984 Case Against Jagdish Tytler -    
       Journalist Jarnail Singh: “It’s a Victory but Not Justice”
 NEW DELHI (April 10, 2013)–Journalist Jarnail Singh has hailed the court order to re-open the case against Jagdish Tytler.  As per a statement delivered after the court hearing, Jarnail Singh welcomed the court ruling as a “victory but not justice.”  Jarnail Singh alleged that it took the courts almost 30 years to request further investigations when the case should have been decided two decades ago.
Tytler is charged with instigating mobs to murder Sikhs in New Delhi post the assassination of Indira Gandhi, the Prime Minister of India who ordered execution of Operation Bluestar.  The court has passed orders to the CBI after Lakhwinder Kaur alleged that the agency had not recorded testimonies of key eyewitnesses in this case.  In particular, two eyewitnesses who had personally witnessed Tytler instigating mobs had migrated to United States and despite having ordered to record their statements, the CBI team failed to comply with the court orders.
The fresh court ruling comes as a major blow to Jagdish Tytler and the Congress as on April 4^th, the CBI prosecutor had requested that the case against Tytler be dismissed as he was not involved in the massacre at Gurudwara Pulbangash located in North Delhi where three people were killed, including the husband of Lakhwinder Kaur.
This is the third time the CBI will be conducting investigations against Jagdish Tytler.  The petitioners have already alleged that they have lost faith in CBI investigations as it has favored Tytler, along with Sajjan Kumar and the late HKL Bhagat.
Jarnail Singh came to the limelight after he threw a shoe at Home Minister P Chidambaram as a protest against the clean-chit given to Jagdish Tytler in March 2009.
