Naresh Yadav Interrogated

SANGRUR, Punjab—In relation to setting ablaze the Holy Quran in Malerkotla on June 24th, AAP’s MLA from Mehrauli (South Delhi) Naresh Yadav was interrogated by the Sangrur police for about nine hours on July 9th. Yadav entered the CIA office along with his co-accused Kewal Sangha at 11:15 am and came out at 8 pm.
Interacting with the media after the interrogation, Naresh Yadav alleged that the Sangrur police harassed and misbehaved with him during interrogation to forcefully make him admit the crime. He added that the police even used foul language while grilling him. “I won’t succumb to their pressure tactic,” he added. He maintained that the Akali government was falsely implicating him in the sacrilege row under political vendetta.
However, SSP Pritpal Singh Thind refuted the allegations levelled by legislator Naresh Yadav of misbehaving and using foul language during the interrogation. He said that Yadav was asked more than 100 questions during the interrogation and Yadav could not lodge satisfactory answers to some questions. He claimed that the police had enough proof to arrest the legislator Naresh Yadav but they were collecting more evidence.
AAP’s state convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur, MP Bhagwant Mann, and Advocate Himmat Singh Shergill were accompanying the AAP legislator outside the CIA office along with other AAP activists.
