Bargari Incident: Justice Zora Singh pleads for security cover to Punjab government
Posted: 07 Jul 2016
Justice Zora Singh was appointed by Punjab government to probe into three cases last years. These include the case of missing saroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib in June-2015, clash between Sikh activists and Police cops in Kotkapura and unprovoked police firing on peacefully protesting Sikhs leaving two dead at Behbal Klan. Zora Singh had submitted his inquiry report on June 30 to the Chief Secretary of Punjab, Sarvesh Kaushal.
When asked about the details of the report, Justice Zora Singh refused to share the details due to the ongoing probe in the cases by CBI. However, he indicated that legal action against the guilty police cops has been recommended but no police cop has been indicted.
In a separate letter written to Punjab government, Justice Zora Singh said that he might be targeted by anti-Akali elements due to dissatisfaction in the report. He has also sought security cover for his accomplice judge involved in investigation.
Due to distrust in Justice Zora Singh commission, negative speculations about the report erupted among all the anti-Akali parties in Punjab. The report submitted by Justice Zora Singh was rejected by Aam Admi Party and Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar).
