AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—AAP’s National convener and Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal was reportedly opposed by some persons at Sri Harmandir Sahib on July 3 for demolishing ‘Piao’ (drinking water kiosk) of Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib in Delhi. Kejriwal was in Amritsar on July 3 to roll out youth manifesto in wake of upcoming assembly elections.
Reliable sources have informed that some unidentified persons raised anti-Kejriwal slogans; however, they were overpowered by the AAP supporters. The protesters threw leaflets terming Kejriwal ‘arrogant’ and guilty of ‘wrong doings’ to the Sikhs. A protester identified as Ranjit Singh said that Indira Gandhi and Kejriwal were equally guilty to the Sikh nation as the duo had demolished historical Sikh buildings.
On being contacted by Sikh24, E-Division Police station’s SHO Sanjay Kumar said that the protesters couldn’t be identified. However, he said that robust security arrangements were made inside and outside Sri Harmandir Sahib Complex for Kejriwal’s visit. “30 Police cops were deployed in civil dress for the security of Arvind Kejriwal,” he added.
Sikh24 has learnt that Arvind Kejriwal was not given ‘Siropao’ (robe of honour) inside Sri Harmandir Sahib.
