UPDATED—8:31 PM IST—Bhai Baldev Singh Wadala has been released from police custody.  He was detained by the Raja Sansi police on precautionary measures.  Following Bhai Wadala’s arrest, a number of Sikhs from Sri Amritsar and nearby towns gathered outside the police station and held a protest seeking his release.  Bhai Baldev Singh was scheduled to take part in a protest rally against the Badal Government.

 

 

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—As per emerging reports, ex-hazoori Ragi of Sri Darbar Sahib, Bhai Baldev Singh Wadala has been arrested by the Amritsar police.  Bhai Baldev Singh getting ready to leave for Sri Darbar Sahib when he was arrested at 3 AM earlier today, June 15, from his home by the Amritsar police.
Bhai Baldev Singh was transferred to Jind (Haryana) last year after he protested the appointment of Harcharan Singh as Chief Secretary of the SGPC.  Since his transfer to Haryana, Bhai Baldev Singh has revolted against the SGPC leadership.Sikh24 attempted to reach Bhai Iqbal Singh for comment, however their phones were switched off.
Earlier, the Punjab police raided house of other Sikh activists.  Bhai Surinder Singh Thikriwal said that his house was raided, however he survived the raid as he was not at home.  Another youth leader, Bhai Jagjit Singh Herike and Bhai Manpreet Singh (Alipur) have been detained.  Bhai Bagicha Singh from Samana has also been detained.
A rally is scheduled to take place later today in Sri Amritsar to raise awareness of growing Government brutalities in Punjab.
