Malaysia’s 1st Hydraulic Nishan Sahib Raised

Posted: 02 Jun 2016 04:29 PM PDT

IPOH, Malaysia—Malaysia’s first Hydraulic Nishan Sahib was installed and raised for the first time on June 2, 2016, at the Wadda Gurdwara Sahib Ipoh (WGSI)  also known as Central Sikh Temple which is situated in the State of Perak in Malaysia.
WGSI being the biggest Sikh temple in Perak had a special ceremony yesterday whereby Panj Pyare led the Ardas before the Sangat did the Sewa for the Nishan Sahib Selami.  A special Akhand Path was commenced immediately thereafter to commemorate this happy occasion.
Prior to this, the Nishan Sahib was fixed at a pole and during every Nishan Sahib Selami, a crane was needed to lift 2-3 Individual to do the sewa for the Nishan Sahib which stood at 45 feet.
The newly installed Hydraulic Nishan Sahib stands at 70 feet inclusive of 4 foot high Khanda and is believed to be the tallest Nishan Sahib in Malaysia besides being the 1st one to be using Hydraulic similar to the one being used in Bulandpuri Sahib Gurdwara in Punjab.
The Khanda installed weighs a total of 15 kgs whereas the entire structure weighs close to 2 tons.

Gurdwara’s President, Dato’ Amarjit Singh Gill (red turban) said that it was a dream come true to have this technology fitted here and to be able to see all Sangat regardless of age to get together and doing the Nishan Sahib Sewa with all the love. There has been a keen interest shown by other Gurdwaras in Malaysia to use the similar concept and we will be more than happy to assist them.
Amarjeet Singh thanked Waheguru for ensuring the success of this great project.  This was even more meaningful  to him as his  grandfather Bhai Gurdial Singh Gill had served as Granthi Sahib at Wadda Gurdwara Sahib Ipoh and for a total period of 49 years including at other Gurdwaras.
