AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Sikh24 has learned that the SGPC President Avtar Makkar met with Damdami Taksal chief Baba Harnam Singh Dhumma on May 31 at Gurdwara Gurdarshan Parkash in Mehta. The duo underwent a closed meeting for long time, which lasted over three hours.
As per internal sources, Makkar has appealed to Baba Harnaam Singh Dhumma to refrain from giving any public statements in the press in relation to Bhai Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale.  Makkar tried to convince Baba Dhumma to control war of words that has been going since the attack on Dhadrianwale earlier this month.
Makkar told Baba Dhumma that the SGPC is also attempting to control statements by Bhai Dhadrianwale.
Following the meeting at Gurdwara Gurdarshan Parkash, the SGPC executive committee also discussed forming a panel to sort out the tussle between Damdami Taksal head Baba Harnam Singh Dhumma and Sikh preacher Bhai Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale.  The committee will appoint five to seven members with neutral image in the panel to iron out the differences between two warring factions.
Addressing the media at Amritrsar Sahib, SGPC President Avtar Makkar said that the panel will work to resolve the growing differences between Baba Dhumma and Bhai Dhadrianawle.  He said it was unfortunate that Bhai Dhadrianwale had refused offer by Giani Gurbachan Singh to mediate in the issue.
Reliable sources within the SGPC have informed that the SGPC convened the meeting at the behest of Deputy Chief Minister and President of Shiromani Akali Dal Sukhbir Badal who is eager sort out the case as soon as possible.
