Prof. Bhullar surrenders before Jail authorities, shifted to Guru Nanak Hospital

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Following 21 days parole, Prof. Davinder Pal Singh Bhullar surrendered before the Amritsar Jail authorities on May 15. Prof. Bhullar was released on parole for 21 days on April 23.
Prof. Bhullar surrendered before the Amritsar Jail authorities at around 5 pm on May 16. He was then admitted to Psychiatry ward of Guru Nanak Hospital where he is undergoing ailment for being suffering from Schizophrenia.
Several Akalis, including International Panthik Dal leaders Bhai Jasbir Singh Rode and Bhai Raghbir Singh UK had taken credit for Prof. Bhullar’s release last month. Bhai Rode and Raghbir Singh had alleged that the Akali Dal led Punjab government had played a vital role in facilitating Prof. Bhullar’s parole.
Prof. Bhullar is serving life sentence in a bomb blast case dating back to 1993. He was transferred to Amritsar Jail last year in June under pressure of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa’s hunger protest.
Prof. Bhullar’s wife Bibi Navneet Kaur said that her husband’s health improved while at home. “He was able to spend time with relatives and meeting with friends and Sikh leaders, but we tried to remain at home most of the time as Prof. Bhullar still needs a lot of rest,” said told Sikh24.
