AMRITSAR SAHIB— The SGPC denied Bhai Nirmal Singh Kharlian shelter in the rest house at Sri Harmandir Sahib on February 27.
Bhai Nirmal Singh Kharlian went to Sri Harimandar Sahib to pay obesance on Februrary 27 after his release in the Suraj Muni murder case. When he asked for a room in the rest house for a day, he was refused by the SGPC staff. “When I introduced myself to the SGPC authorities, the latter acquired stricter attitude towards and refused to allocate a room,” he told Sikh24.
“It is very unfortunate that instead of honouring Sikh activists, the SGPC is treating them like enemies,” said Bhai Nirmal Singh to Sikh24.
Bhai Nirmal Singh Kharlian is accused in the Suraj Muni murder case and was sentenced to life in prison by the court of Additional District and Sessions judge Daya Ram Godara in Hanumangarh (Rajasthan) in September 9, 2014.
Along with him, Baba Nagender Singh of Sehna village (Barnala) was also sente life imprisonment for assassinating Suraj Muni, head of an anti-Sikh cult in Peelibanga, who was responsible for the sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib in 2012.
Bhai Amritpal Singh, a close associate of Bhai Kharlia, condemned SGPC staff’s attitude. He said that being the apex body of the Sikhs, it was responsibility of the SGPC to ensure well-being of Sikh activists. “Instead of honouring our activists, SGPC had adopted rude attitude towards Panthik Sikhs,” he said.
