Sajjan Kumar Moves Supreme Court Against His Conviction

22 Dec 2018 05:50 PM PSTNEW DELHI, India—A day after getting denied relief by the Delhi High Court to extend the time to surrender till January 31, Sajjan Kumar has challenged the Delhi High Court’s verdict in the Supreme Court. Notably, Sajjan Kumar was addressed life imprisonment in a 1984 Sikh genocide case on December 17.
Sharing the development with media, Advocate HS Phoolka informed that the Supreme Court has intimated him about Sajjan Kumar’s appeal against his conviction by the Delhi High Court via registered post. “The victims had already filed a caveat to pre-empt any ex parte hearing in favor of Sajjan Kumar” he added.
It may be recalled here that Sajjan Kumar was imprisoned for life by the Delhi High Court on December 17 in a case pertaining to brutal killing of five members of a Sikh family in the Raj Nagar of Delhi’s cantonment area on November 1, 1984. The Court had asked him to surrender before the authorities on December 31.
