25 Sep 2018 07:24 AM PDTCHANDIGARH, Punjab—Nishant Sharma, the national president of Shiv Sena Hindustan, was reportedly beaten up today by some Sikh prisoners in Ropar jail. Notably, Nishant Sharma was sent to Ropar jail after he was addressed four year sentence by the Court in a case pertaining to swindling Rupees 1,50,000 of Kurali based Anil Kumar.
Sources have informed that the incident occurred at around 08:45 am when Nishant Sharma was resting in a barrack allotted to him. It is learnt that the Sikh activists invaded into Nishant Sharma’s barrack and thrashed him for his anti-Sikhism activities that he has been carrying out from a long time to hurt Sikh sentiments.
Sikh24 has learnt that Nishant Sharma was rushed to a local hospital immediately by the jail authorities. The Jail authorities taken back Nishant Sharma to Ropar jail amid opposition by Shiv Sena activists after getting him medicated by the doctors.
Interacting with media at Hospital, Nishant Sharma said that he was attacked by three Sikh prisoners when he was resting in his barrack at around 08:45 am today. While accusing Bhai Ramandeep Singh Bagga of heading the attack on him, he added that one of the Sikh prisoners put cloth on his head and then thrashed him with fists, brick and a sharp edged cooking tool “Khurpa”.
It is pertinent to note here that Nishant Sharma has been hurting Sikh sentiments for a long time by making inflammatory speeches against Sikh community. In 2011, Nishant Sharma had even tried to attack Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara during his court appearance but was slapped in a vigorous response by Bhai Hawara.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that the IG (Prisons) V Neerja has paid a visit to Ropar jail recently along with the SSP Swapan Sharma. On being approached by media, the SSP said the jail authorities are probing the incident with emphasis on how attackers succeeded in opening the barrack where Nishant Sharma was lodged.
