“Rapid ReactionForce” CPRF Deployed at Sarbat Khalsa Site

TALWANDI SABO, Punjab—The organizers of Sarbat Khalsa 2016 have begun preparations to successfully conduct the event scheduled to be held in two days, on December 8. The Sikh farmers of village Bhagivandar have provided their agricultural land on Bhagivandar-Bathinda main road for organizing the panthik gathering.
A team of 50 Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) members reached the site of the Sarbat Khalsa (Sikh Congregation) on December 2 to check arrangements there.
The district police of Bathinda became immediately active and the DSP Mohri Lal & SHO Jagdish Singh reached there along with a ‘Rapid Action Force’ team of CRPF (Civil Range Police Force) to displace the team. Following a heated exchange, the District Administration finally succeeded in convincing the Sikh activists to leave the venue.
Meanwhile, the Punjab government has beefed up security in Talwandi Sabo and may once again attempt to sabotage the event. The so-called ‘Rapid Action Force’ team of the CRPF has been brought in Talwandi Sabo besides three existing companies of ordinary CRPF cops. It is being speculated that the Punjab government may call additional paramilitary forces troops to bar the entry of Sikh activists at the prescribed venue of Sarbat Khalsa at Talwandi Sabo.
It is pertinent to note here that the organizers are currently waiting for the decision of a High Court petition, moved by Advocate Simranjit Singh. The hearing on the petition is due today.
